Title: Dreams of Eden - Spring

This is the fourth in a series of four. Each one is named for a season of the year, beginning with Dreams of Eden - Summer. And Spring was a long time coming! I knew I wanted to represent this season with a Native American maiden, but started out having way too much fun with making her skin tones and hair realistic. That was my perfectionism kicking in, and was not consistent with the theme of the series. Then the surrounding flowers became way too busy, and pretty soon I was starting over in prayer and on most of the canvas! Finally, she seems to fit, content to be right where she is among the spring green forest leaves. Since the eyes often portray the emotion of a piece, hers are completely and gently closed, inviting the viewer not just to look at her, but to feel what she feels. The colors solidify the piece by being used throughout.

I love painting people, and I love that we are all so different, yet so basically alike. Each one of these women is satisfied with herself and her surroundings. Contentment is truly possible. May you share the peace and rest she seems to exude!
